Uzvar (Dried Fruit Compote)

Method

1. 1

Rinse the dried fruit well in warm water.

2. 2

Bring the water to a boil, add the fruit, and simmer gently for 20 minutes.

3. 3

Take off the heat and stir in the sugar once the liquid has cooled slightly.

💡 Stirring it in off the boil dissolves it fully without scorching.

4. 4

Cover and let steep for at least 3 hours — overnight is traditional.

5. 5

Serve chilled or at room temperature, with some of the fruit in each glass.
